How to accomplish goals

Setting goals gives you clarity of vision for the life you want to create, your direction and purpose, and the person you want to become.

Your mindset is the most important thing to accomplish goals. Believe me when I say this: anything is possible if you stay consistent and believe that you can. You tend to stay more motivated when your mind is positive! If you believe you can, you will.

You don’t have to wait until a new year, new month, or a Monday to set and accomplish goals. If you really want something and if you’re feeling inspired and motivated to start, start right now. You don’t want to miss an opportunity.

So here I will suggest you some tips to help you stick to your goals and accomplish anything!

Assessing your past and present:

This is the key for setting goals. What worked before? What didn’t? And why? Based on these, what do you want to improve and achieve?

Try to figure out where you want and when to start. I recommend only working on 1-2 long term goals and 1 short term goal at a time so you don’t feel overwhelmed.

Make it SMARTER:

Your goals need to be:

S –specific | M- measurable | A- attainable | R- relevant | T-time-bound | E- evaluative | R- revisable

Write it down your goals

And look at them daily to clarify and strengthen your intentions, really works for me!

Break it down into small steps

It’s important being small and manageable steps to overcome overwhelm. Try to do tasks throughout the days that help you reach your goals and set a timer up for that, so it’s your only focus.

Plan out each week:

For example, every Sunday I set aside time to fill my planner for the upcoming week with some tasks to help me reach my goals. The planning is what enables me to get stuff done. When the day comes for me to do something, I just look at it and I do it.

Believe you can accomplish

The power is in your mindset, it’s time to embed into your brain that you can. Instead of all the “I cant’s” and the “I will nevers”, start believing that you can do everything you want.

Consistency

This is the key when it comes to accomplishing your goals. Take little breaks if you start to feel burnt out, but don’t take long ones because they can really hurt your outcome.

Reward yourself

This will help you feel positive so you can continue doing it! For example, if you are proud that you’ve achieved something treat yourself with something you love or a day off.

I really hope you found this post helpful! Remember that if you adopt a mindset for achieving goals, you can accomplish anything.

There is an online tool frequently used by IT guys but I also use it for my personal goals – Trello. It allows you to create a board with lists. The default use case is to create three lists: to do, in progress, done. In each column, you can create cards. For instance, you create a new card ‘prepare for exams’ in ‘to do’, there you add a checklist and a description, and many more features are available (attach images, files, links, mark cards with labels, give your names to labels, install covers for cards, etc.). Then you move this card to ‘in progress’ when you start doing this task. You do all necessary steps, accomplish checklist points, etc. And then move the card to ‘done’. There’s a menu on the right, you can find nice stickers there and drop them on the card 🙂 Plus you can set a nice background for the board, they use very nice images from Unsplash.
