How to maintain a healthy relationship

No relationship is perfect. Everyone desires to have a healthy, loving, and long-lasting relationship with the right person by their side right? But every relationship takes work every day. You are constantly learning something new about each other.

In order to have a successful relationship, there are some fundamental things that couples must have:

❤️Respect and Acceptance

This is one of the greatest expressions of love. Has to be present and always mutual. You need to show your admiration. You have to admire them for who they are without trying to change them. For their feelings, thoughts, different perspectives, and opinions. You let them express themselves.

❤️Trust

This is the key to a healthy relationship. It’s about feeling safe and confident, physically, and emotionally. If something is bothering you, have enough confidence in the other person to be able to say something about it. Trust each other, take each other at their word.

❤️Empathy and Effort

Show love, respect, and consideration. Be present and your partner’s biggest supporter. If your partner is having a tough day, be there. Support their emotions.  Always try and lift one another up.

❤️Communication

Being able to communicate your feelings with one another it’s soo important! Communicate when you’re upset, when you’re happy, when you like or hate something. Be open and honest with your loved one. Some arguments and be easily avoided by being honest.

❤️Quality time

It’s important to remember to make time for one another. Set aside time every day (or whenever you can) to spend some quality time, do something you love to do together.

❤️Individual freedom

Spending quality time together is so important, but it’s also important to have individual freedom. You should both allow one another freedom to be their own person. You both need space sometimes.

❤️Compliments and Physical Interaction

Sometimes we just forget to express love and care to our partner on a daily basis. Use words, hugs, actions, and physical interactions to express your affection. Express your appreciation genuinely towards them.

Remember that every relationship is unique, and no one is perfect and it requires a lot of work. We develop and we learn together.  Every relationship at some point run into troubles, but that does not mean that you have to give up. It means that you can solve these problems together.

True, unconditional love. That’s what it is.

Hope you enjoyed this post 🥰

This is exactly what I’ve been looking for to show my boys what a true healthy relationship consists of, because I feel like I have failed to show them what a healthy relationship should be, and so I want to teach them and the best way to do that is to lead by example. Thanks for helping me to achieve that. This article is short sweet and to the point, it brings lite to the basic principles and a quick example or description, keeping me reading it the whole time.

My boyfriend and me are really excited to learn new ways yo love each other in a healthy and positive way and really want to thank you for sharing this post.

  13. The qualities of a healthy relationship you both describe are just spot on as they describe the key ingredients to a fulfilled partnership. Where each individual stands on a firm foundation of their own as opposed to relying on each other for purpose. I’ve mostly experienced the other type, the non-healthy and what seems to be on the cusp of co-dependency. I just love this app and look forward to being enlightened in my behavior towards my loved ones. Thank you guys.
