For some people, the struggle to wake up early is real. But waking up early is a great way to start your day. It has many benefits! You’ll find time to actually take care of yourself physically and mentally, to do things you enjoy, to be productive, to relax and recharge, to create new healthy habits and you’ll start feeling less stressed.
So, if you would like to become an early morning riser, in this post, I’m sharing a few habits you should build to start waking up earlier:
If you want to get up earlier do it often and consistently. Be consistent with your sleeping and waking habits even on weekends. Nothing is more effective than consistency. Training this way will help it to become a natural feeling to get up early. Your body will adjust and will set your own alarm if you give it at least a week.
Don’t snooze/place your alarm in another room
My best tip to force yourself to get up from bed is to place your alarm clock in another nearby room, so you have to get up to turn the alarm off. Once you get up, don’t get back in bed. Wash your face with cold water and drink a glass of cold water to wake up.
Do things that wake you up
It can be drinking water, doing some exercise, listen to music, going for a walk, taking a shower,… Just get into action right away and you’ll feel more awake.
Prep the night before
Take a few minutes before your bedtime to prepare everything for the next day. Choose your outfit, write a to-do list, your breakfast, snacks, or meals. Preparation is the most important step throughout the whole process of becoming a morning person.
Get enough sleep
If you start waking up earlier try to go to sleep 1 or 2 hours earlier than usual. Try to have a better evening routine that will help you get better sleep, which will result in you waking up earlier in the morning.
Drink water before you drink coffee
Sometimes you’re not tired, you’re just dehydrated. So, have a big glass of water in the morning before having your morning coffee.
Get sun or fresh air as soon as possible
Sunlight or fresh air will leave you more alert and ready to start the day!
I hope these simple tips will help you successfully getting up earlier!
