How to be the main character of your life

First of all, what does this mean?

Basically, it’s the Gen Z term for being the protagonist of your own life, the hero of your own story.

And sometimes we feel like we are not the center of our own life. Like we are just a passenger observing in a constant state of self-doubt, living our life by obligations and forgetting what it means to live. I know exactly what it feels like.

But you can change that right this moment by trying to add these things to your life:

  • Living with purpose

The first step to being the main character of your life is to live with purpose. The goals, desires, and accomplishments you hope to see happen are up to you to work towards.

This way you know what is most important to you and you start doing things, saying things, planning things, believing things, that are in line with your purpose.

  • Setting boundaries

It is saying yes to what you value most and letting the rest go. Setting healthy boundaries is an important act of self-care. They are absolutely necessary for forming healthy relationships, feeling safe, and maintaining overall wellbeing.

You know what you want, and what’s important to you so you need to be okay with removing things and relationships that don’t allow you to grow.

  • Not comparing your life

Stop comparing yourself with other’s people’s lives. They get to be the main characters of their stories and guess what, you still get to be the main character of yours with all of your strengths and your flaws, too. Instead, focus on working on things you want to accomplish.

Remember. No one’s journey is better than somebody else’s. There is room for all of us to bloom.

  • Not trying to be perfect

Forget about all the society’s expectation of perfection in what we do, what we say, what we wear,… and so on, in order to be perfect, liked, successful, loved, accepted, etc…. The truth is that we do not need to be perfect to be all these things. We can’t be perfect. There is nothing and nobody that is perfect. All we can be is ourselves.

  • Prioritize your mental health

Your negative thoughts are not a reflection of who you are. Your thoughts tend to mirror insecurities. You are not your thoughts! And if you can realize that, it’s a huge step! Mindset is everything.

Our mental health is extremely important. Create time for self-care: sign off social media, get moving, meditate, read, talk to someone you love, anything that makes you feel good.

  • Prioritize relationships

Relationships themselves make life worth living, so make these an absolute priority in your life.

  • Do things that make you feel confident

Try to incorporate one small thing every day that makes you feel good about yourself. Wear your favorite outfit, move your body, eat well, do your hair and makeup,… Whatever makes you feel confident, do it.

Here are some “main character” reminders for you to take to your life:

❤ Grow through what you go through;

❤ Embrace your existing qualities;

❤ Listen to your intuition more;

❤ Do what makes you the happiest person in the world;

❤ Make your mental health a priority;

❤ Live in alignment with your true values.

Remember that you can be and have whatever you want if you just believe in it and work at it. This is only possible when you truly are the main character in your own life. I hope I’ve inspired you 🧡

How are you going to start being the main character of your life?

      3. Lovely! We tend to forget how beautiful and wonderful we are because we base off societal norms of beauty and happiness is. And with this, we tend to turn to people pleasers, insecurity loaded individuals. And trust me nothing feels as bad as doubting yourself or not feeling enough. It can be hard to brush off the nagging negative thoughts about validation or how we see ourselves. But, believe me we can be anything we want to be. We just have to be the main character in our own story

        Thanks a lot for this post. It was truly inspiring 🤗🤗

    I absolutely loved this! I am new to 21 days, today is day two so I’m still navigating my way through. I am so happy I found this app because I’m so tired I feel alone and I push everyone away. I just need some help learning how to live because I never really have done that. No one ever taught me how to do that. But this hit hard because I can’t remember ever even being the main character of my life not one time. I tried and tried to remember a time but I can’t. So I’m committing to being honest with myself and others. When I have to make a decision I back down and put it on someone else or do whatever it takes to not do it. It’s time to be ok with letting others know what i need and want. It’s time I take control and start FINALLY living MY life!

  12. I feel good and am inspired thanx kati
