First of all, what does this mean?
Basically, it’s the Gen Z term for being the protagonist of your own life, the hero of your own story.
And sometimes we feel like we are not the center of our own life. Like we are just a passenger observing in a constant state of self-doubt, living our life by obligations and forgetting what it means to live. I know exactly what it feels like.
But you can change that right this moment by trying to add these things to your life:
- Living with purpose
The first step to being the main character of your life is to live with purpose. The goals, desires, and accomplishments you hope to see happen are up to you to work towards.
This way you know what is most important to you and you start doing things, saying things, planning things, believing things, that are in line with your purpose.
- Setting boundaries
It is saying yes to what you value most and letting the rest go. Setting healthy boundaries is an important act of self-care. They are absolutely necessary for forming healthy relationships, feeling safe, and maintaining overall wellbeing.
You know what you want, and what’s important to you so you need to be okay with removing things and relationships that don’t allow you to grow.
- Not comparing your life
Stop comparing yourself with other’s people’s lives. They get to be the main characters of their stories and guess what, you still get to be the main character of yours with all of your strengths and your flaws, too. Instead, focus on working on things you want to accomplish.
Remember. No one’s journey is better than somebody else’s. There is room for all of us to bloom.
- Not trying to be perfect
Forget about all the society’s expectation of perfection in what we do, what we say, what we wear,… and so on, in order to be perfect, liked, successful, loved, accepted, etc…. The truth is that we do not need to be perfect to be all these things. We can’t be perfect. There is nothing and nobody that is perfect. All we can be is ourselves.
- Prioritize your mental health
Your negative thoughts are not a reflection of who you are. Your thoughts tend to mirror insecurities. You are not your thoughts! And if you can realize that, it’s a huge step! Mindset is everything.
Our mental health is extremely important. Create time for self-care: sign off social media, get moving, meditate, read, talk to someone you love, anything that makes you feel good.
- Prioritize relationships
Relationships themselves make life worth living, so make these an absolute priority in your life.
- Do things that make you feel confident
Try to incorporate one small thing every day that makes you feel good about yourself. Wear your favorite outfit, move your body, eat well, do your hair and makeup,… Whatever makes you feel confident, do it.
Here are some “main character” reminders for you to take to your life:
❤ Grow through what you go through;
❤ Embrace your existing qualities;
❤ Listen to your intuition more;
❤ Do what makes you the happiest person in the world;
❤ Make your mental health a priority;
❤ Live in alignment with your true values.
Remember that you can be and have whatever you want if you just believe in it and work at it. This is only possible when you truly are the main character in your own life. I hope I’ve inspired you 🧡
